Iran’s ‘Talker’ en route to Spain’s Islantilla Cinefórum

Iranian short ‘Talker’ is to go on screen at the Islantilla Cinefórum Film Festival in Spain.

Iranian short flick ‘Talker’ has been set to go on screen at the Under the Moon International Film Festival (Islantilla Cinefórum) in Spain.

Directed and written by Mehrshad Ranjbar, the Iranian 13-minute flick tells the story of an old woman who has taken care of her sick husband for many years, but an incident disturbs the order of her life.

The cast list of the short film includes Maryam Nourafkan and Abbas Jalallou.

‘Talker’ has so far competed at several global events, including the Medina Film Festival, the Cinema Jove International Film Festival, and the Palencia International Film Festival, all in Spain, as well as the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan, and the Faludi International Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary, where it won the best short feature award.

The short also grabbed the Grand Prix at the Kyoto International Student Film & Video Festival in Japan and the best film award of student film competition at the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.

“For its unique poetic film language, for its concise artistic choices and its great usage of its space, for how the film feeds the slow narrative force exclusively through powerful silent images to result in a beautiful mosaic of quotidian life of an old couple shot in a cinematic way,” the jury of the Tirana event wrote.

The Islantilla Cinefórum is a hub for film-lovers, inviting them to enjoy the most avant-garde audiovisual proposals in the best of settings on the beach.

It is an initiative promoted by the Mancomunidad de Islantilla in collaboration with various public and private entities.

Activities of the Islantilla Cinefórum take place during July and August to enjoy the night and the projections under the moonlight.

The 2021 edition of the Islantilla Cinefórum will kick off on July 3.
